
Bio
Rabbi/Cantor Dan Sklar grew up in Northbrook, IL and earned a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory in 1994. After college, he lived and worked in New York City – first as a secretary for director Hal Prince and then as an actor. His theatrical credits include two and a half years in the Broadway tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. In 2001, he enrolled at the Hebrew Union College–School of Sacred Music and was invested as cantor in May, 2006. He continued his education at Hebrew Union College was ordained as rabbi in May 2008. Dan served at Westchester Reform Temple from 2008-2012 and at Temple Israel in Westport from 2012-2020. He currently serves Temple Israel of Northern Westchester in Croton-on-Hudson. Dan is a member of the American Conference of Cantors and the Central Conference of American Rabbis. Rabbi/Cantor Sklar and his wife, Rabbi/Cantor Shirah Sklar, live in Westport, CT with their sons Ari, Isaac and Jonah.
